On Tuesday, President Trump suggested he’d like the military to look into
disciplinary action against Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, the Purple
Heart recipient who courageously testified before Congress regarding the
Trump-Ukraine scandal.

It’s blatant retaliation.

As an Iraq War veteran who worked in national security for over 14 years, and
as a someone running to represent my hometown of San Antonio -- “Military City
USA” -- it’s scary to think that other public servants and my brothers and
sisters-in-arms may similarly be retaliated against if they’re seen as
“disloyal” to the president.

The president’s actions against Lt. Col. Vindman are petty, vindictive, and
shameful. He’s trying to scare others into blind loyalty, and it’s just the
latest dangerous step toward politicizing our military.
