John,
Last night, I was the sole dissenting vote in the House Armed Services Committee on the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). My reasoning is simple: It doesn’t address the waste and fraud in the Pentagon budget and price gouging by defense contractors.
At $886 billion, the proposed defense budget represents more than a 3 percent increase over last year’s total.
Meanwhile, we are cutting relief for the poor, for students with loans, and for the working class. Republicans slashed these programs in the debt ceiling deal, saying we couldn’t afford it.
We have a responsibility to use Americans’ tax dollars wisely. This defense budget fails to fulfill that promise. Will you stand with me in rejecting this wasteful defense spending increase? |
