"What’s the difference between the post-traumatic stress that a soldier meets in the hills of Afghanistan and [the post-traumatic stress] a fourth-grade kid meets in a classroom when they have to duck and cover?"
– President Biden,
in his address at the Safer Communities Summit
John,
It's been one year since President Biden signed into law the most consequential piece of gun violence prevention legislation in three decades: The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
But this action was the beginning, not the end, of our fight. Still, Americans are at risk of dying from our gun violence epidemic. In fact, gun violence has become the leading cause of death for children and teens in this country.
Biden has been steadfast in his commitment to fighting this epidemic, but there is only so much he can do alone. He has called on Congress time and again to take action with him – most notably in calling for a ban on deadly assault weapons. But inexplicably, Congress has failed to take action.
Banning assault weapons means stopping the next tragedy. Because these weapons are the common link between some of the deadliest mass shootings in the US: In Uvalde, Highland Park, Buffalo, Aurora, Parkland, Orlando, Las Vegas, Newtown, the gunman used an AR-15 style weapon.
We are calling on 5,000 dedicated activists to join President Biden and Brady in calling on Congress to ban assault weapons NOW. >> [[link removed]]
TELL CONGRESS: BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS! [[link removed]]
Biden has continuously appealed to Congress to follow his lead in addressing gun violence with lifesaving action. Yet, the NRA money-riddled legislative body has remained stagnant – seemingly ignoring the deaths of children and adults in heinous mass shootings where the gunman used an assault weapon designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
These weapons of war do not belong on our streets nor in our schools, John, and each day our lawmakers fail to act is another that Americans are at risk. Will you join the president, Brady, and gun violence prevention activists across the country in speaking out today? Tell Congress: This is life or death. TAKE ACTION TO BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS. >> [[link removed]]

Thank you for urging our lawmakers to take the lifesaving action that our country deserves.
