After a 213-209 vote, the MAGA GOP led by Kevin McCarthy has moved to censure Adam Schiff. The resolution also calls for an ethics investigation into Rep. Schiff for his role in the Russian interference investigation. This is not about rule of law. This is political retribution. The same party that screams from the rooftops that the system is "out to get" Donald Trump is now acting out in that exact way. |
This is the reality of Kevin McCarthy's House. Under his watch, investigations into Trump have ceased in order to exact vengeance upon Democrats, including Rep. Schiff. Kevin McCarthy removed Rep. Schiff from his ranking role on the House Intelligence Committee specifically to cater to the whims of the former President.
Anyone who has shown interest in the truth about the Trump administration and its potential crimes has been formally reprimanded...including those who still seek answers for the actions of January 6th.
Rep. Jamie Raskin spoke on behalf of his colleague saying,
"The GOP simply has no ideas for our economy, no ideas for our country, and no ideas for our people...but is on an embarrassing revenge tour on behalf of Donald Trump, who treats them like a ventriloquist dummy."
This will continue to be a trend if Kevin McCarthy and the MAGA-GOP are allowed to have control of the House in 2024. They are pursuing all avenues of silencing those that want to hold the former President accountable.
