Friend,
You might not know this, but today is Galentine’s Day, an unofficial holiday for women to celebrate the other women in their lives. Today, our team decided to rebrand it as Galvintine’s Day to show love for the strongest woman I know: my mother, Alyse Galvin.
When I think of my mother's strength, dozens of examples come to mind. But I’ll never forget the strength she showed on election night 2018.
I remember my mother and how she never once shed a tear. Instead, she comforted her team. She gathered us in our RV from the late ’90s that we converted into a makeshift campaign bus. I looked around the RV at the fourteen women and three men I had come to know over the past nine months and saw the devastation on their faces.
My mom refused to let us feel sorry for ourselves. She reminded us of how far we had come in such a short time. We had moved mountains and achieved something incredible. That impact would not fade. She told us we can’t stop moving those mountains just because of a temporary loss.
When she made her concession speech that night, she insisted that the team stand together with her. She told us that people would be watching and they needed to know that we aren’t done and that we’ll always have their back.
Mom was larger than life that night.
She taught us to never take anything for granted and the importance of stepping up for our communities. She lost once, but we learned and we grew, and now we are coming back even stronger. My mom is going to be Alaska’s first Congresswoman, and she is going to change this state and country for the better.
Today, I’m asking you to help me celebrate Galvintine’s Day by signing a special card for my mom.

I can’t wait to show my mom your responses.
Thanks and happy Galvintine’s Day!
