Dear PPMW Supporter,
When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson Womens’ Health Organization one year ago, it stripped tens of millions of people of the right to make their own personal medical decisions. The impact was immediate, putting people’s health and lives at risk. Within two weeks, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington (PPMW) was seeing patients from Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and Florida — a trajectory that has only intensified throughout this past year.
Access to abortion is growing further out of reach for millions of Americans. People are being pushed further into pregnancy, having to resort to an abortion method that they wouldn’t have otherwise chosen, or unable to access legal abortion at all. And due to systemic racism and discrimination, Black, Latinx, and Indigenous people, people of color, immigrants, people living with low incomes, and people in rural areas are impacted the most.
Despite monumental setbacks, we remain part of a strong movement that is built to last.
Take action:
PPMW is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the ability to make decisions about their own reproductive lives and futures. Our doors remain open and our team will continue to provide non-judgemental, reproductive health care for those who come to us seeking care — no matter what.
Thank you for your continued support.
In solidarity,
Laura Meyers, Ph.D.
