Dear Friends,

We just hosted our most well-attended town hall to date, and I am feeling grateful to represent such an engaged and civic-minded community. Moreover, I am thrilled to be back home in PA-06 and will continue to use my time to meet with as many constituents as possible. If you were not able to join the nearly 400 community members at our last town hall in West Chester, I hope you can join us in Reading in two short weeks.

With everything going on in our community and around the country, I want to be sure you see the work my office is doing. Here are two quick highlights:

Modernizing our infrastructure is not a partisan issue, and it is past time for Congress to take action. You may have seen that I recently announced my infrastructure priorities in Berks County alongside state and industry stakeholders at the Penn Street Bridge in Reading. From rebuilding our bridges and roads to ensuring small businesses and students trying to finish their homework have access to broadband, our infrastructure priorities are many, and we must address them all. This conversation needs to continue at the highest levels of our government, which is why I signed a letter asking House leadership and the President to recommit themselves to this critical conversation. You can see the full text of the letter here
Rep. Houlahan convenes state and industry stakeholders at Reading's Penn Street Bridge to call for federal infrastructure investment. From left to right, Gail Landis of the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce, State Senator Judy Schwank, Bob Latham of Associated Pennsylvania Constructors, George McAuley of PennDOT, Bob Wright of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Eric Frary of the American Council of Engineering Companies, and Leeann Sherman of the American Council of Engineering Companies of PA.

Just this week, I introduced the Stop Supporting Foreign Interference in Our Democracy Act, which takes critical steps towards safeguarding our elections against foreign adversaries. Russia interfered in our 2016 Presidential election, and our best intelligence tells us they, and other foreign adversaries, will attempt to do so again in 2020. Any allegiances to political party are irrelevant; as a citizenry, we must move forward in shoring up our election security. My bill prohibits Americans from knowingly providing assistance of any kind to foreign powers attempting to interfere in our elections. This legislation is crucial to our national security, and I hope my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in both the House and Senate will rally around the effort to protect our democracy. Full text of the Stop Supporting Foreign Interference in Our Democracy Act can be found here.

If you wish to tell us your thoughts on this or any other issue of importance to you, fill out our contact form. As always, please subscribe to this e-newsletter to keep up with our many events and the legislative work we're accomplishing for Pennsylvanians.

Respectfully,
