Canada's Assisted Suicide Laws are Not About Compassion

In this piece by Daniel Gyllhem, he explores the downfalls of Canada’s assisted suicide legislation. In it he states, "The original intentions of the MAID program were rooted in compassion, aiming to provide relief to those suffering from terminal illnesses. However, the program’s evolution has raised concerns about how it may be abused and whether it adequately safeguards the mentally vulnerable or those who are not nearing the end of their lives."  Keep Reading (3 min)

Disability Should Not Be A Reason to Die 

"The romanticised rhetoric of assisted dying bears no reference to the actuality of holding a loved one’s body in your arms because they felt a burden to the family. That body, that person, had spiralled into a vacuum of brokenness. The paradox of advocating and looking for resources in relation to suicide prevention is ironic." Keep Reading (5 min).
