John,
This August, we may be in for the largest work stoppage since 19591 — and the biggest against a single employer in U.S. history.2
UPS employees in the Teamsters union voted overwhelmingly last week to approve a strike if they don’t reach a contract agreement by July 31, with 97% voting in favor.
These workers allow our economy to function, with an estimated 6% of the national GDP moving in UPS trucks every day.3 But still, the $150 billion corporation4 has refused to treat their workers with dignity, including:
-
Using a lower “tier” of pay for certain workers doing the same job,1
-
Forcing drivers to work in 120-degree conditions that have killed at least one employee, and
-
Implementing constant surveillance in delivery trucks that yells at drivers for drinking water.5
If you stand in solidarity with UPS workers as they demand fair treatment from greedy executives, sign the petition now. Signatures will be dropped off at UPS sites across the country.

It’s hard to overstate how important the work of UPS employees is, with 1 in 4 packages shipped in the United States handled by the company.1 By going on strike, UPS workers have the power to bring the economy to a standstill.
But despite record profits that allowed $8 billion in dividends to be issued to UPS shareholders last year,1 employees continue to work in unfair and unsafe conditions.
We know that when working people organize and stand up for their rights, we can win. Already, UPS has begun to accede to some requests — the company just agreed to put air conditioning or fans in most delivery trucks.6 But there’s still a long way to go to win a fair contract for employees.
We’re ready to stand with UPS workers as they negotiate with executives and prepare for a possible strike. To let them know you’re with them too, sign the petition now.

In solidarity,
Working Families Party
