Zero. That’s how many people were on the staff of Equality Federation for the first 7 years of our existence. 

In the past 26 years, we’ve gone from a staff of 0 to one of 15 talented queer and trans people. We are smart, hard-working, and — like you — very tired.

We are bigger than we were in 1997, but so is our opposition. We are facing a wave of attacks against the LGBTQ+ community, specifically the transgender community, that are only growing in number and impact. 

• In 2020, there were 100 anti-transgender bills in the states
• In 2021, there were 199 anti-trans bills in the states
• In 2022, there were 330 anti-LGBTQ+ bills across the country, and a third of them were anti-transgender, many specifically targeting trans youth
• In 2023, there are over 559 anti-LGBTQ+ bills across the country, and over 73% of them are anti-transgender, the majority specifically targeting trans youth

Our team of 15, alongside the more than 290 staff and many more volunteers at our 46 state partners, are working hard to stop these attacks, but we can’t do it without your support.
