Dear Friend,

When I began this journey with all of you a little over two years ago, I knew I needed a vehicle, literally and figuratively, to help me connect with people in the 3rd District who desired and deserved better representation. You know the rest. I converted my (usually) trusty International Harvester metro van into the Government Repair Truck and drove it around our communities to meet people and listen to what's on their minds.

However, just like our government, even our trusty truck needs repairing at times.

When we realized there was a hole in the roof of the truck due to rain damage two days before the Fourth of July, I was worried. No parade with the Dean Team is complete without our truck, and I was skeptical when we sent out the call for help that we could fix it in time -- especially on a holiday weekend. Yet, in true Dean Team fashion, you all stepped up. And that's why I'm thrilled to thank and salute David Comb as our Dean Team volunteer of the month for July 2019.

When David learned of our predicament, he leapt into action. Within five hours, the roof wasn't just fixed, but better than ever. And such "emergency" response isn't new to David. A former Golden Valley firefighter, he was asked to take part in disaster relief efforts with Headwaters Relief Organization shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. Since then, he has traveled extensively in the United States and internationally to several countries including Haiti, Nepal, and Liberia to do humanitarian relief work.

Such dedication to service defines the Dean Team. You stand up when called upon. You take action into your own hands, without waiting for direction. And you make our community, and the entire country, a better place.

Without David, the Government Repair Truck would have missed one of its most important duties of the summer. And without all of you, I wouldn't be in a position to represent the most amazing people and communities in our country and inspire the policies and decency that so many of us seek.

So thanks to David, and each and every one of you for your support, your inspiration, and your belief in me and our collective future.
