In 2022, the Biden administration passed two monumental pieces of climate legislation, the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Combined, they represent the largest climate investments in U.S. history, putting the country within striking distance of its goal to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50%-52% by 2030. — which banned food scraps from landfills nearly 20 years ago — has turned the majority of its uneaten food into animal feed, fertilizer and fuel. But the country is an outlier. Globally, a third of all food produced goes to waste, and food loss and waste stands to double by 2050.
