This month, we are proud to honor 12-year old Baxter Whitworth.
** Welcome to the June edition of The Moran Minuteman.
------------------------------------------------------------
This monthly newsletter is our way of recognizing extraordinary efforts in Texas Congressional District 1 and providing an inside look into what happens behind the scenes in the life of a Congressman.
Earlier this month, we celebrated America’s pastime and raised funds for organizations that serve vulnerable children and families with the Congressional Baseball Game.
The Congressional Baseball game started in 1909. It is an annual bi-partisan event where Republicans battle Democrats on the baseball diamond. I am proud to report that the Republicans won by a landslide - 16 to 6! This is the third victory in a row for the Red team. More importantly, together, we raised $1.8 million for charity. Congratulations to everyone who participated!
** Congratulations to our June Minuteman -
------------------------------------------------------------
When I think of East Texans, I think of the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War ([link removed]) . Loyal to country and community, dependable, selfless, and ready at a moment’s notice, the Minutemen were American heroes who helped turn the tide of the Revolutionary War. Today’s East Texans reflect those traits. You are patriotic, dependable, and deeply committed to making our communities better.
Each month, I will recognize an East Texan who has gone above and beyond in serving our region - someone who epitomizes the identity of a Minuteman. In addition to recognition in the monthly newsletter, we will send the person a Moran Minuteman t-shirt.
This month’s Minuteman, 12-year-old Baxter Whitworth, embodies the entrepreneurial American spirit. When he was just 10 years old, Baxter told his dad, the owner/operator of a large commercial cow-calf operation, that he wanted to create a cattle company. When his dad responded that they already had one, Baxter said, “No, that belongs to you and mom. I want to start a business of my own.”
Building on a passion for Brahman cattle, Baxter researched the breed, purchased a bull, and founded Top Notch Cattle Company, devising the name and brand all by himself. After winning Division Champion at the State Brahman show, Baxter has been marketing his bull to breed and reinvesting the profits into his business. His goal is to build the cattle operation over the next several years so it will provide his livelihood after he graduates from college.
Thank you, Baxter, for being an example to all of us by showing us that through hard work and dedication, anyone can achieve the American dream!
Do you know an East Texan who would be a great next recipient? Please submit their name here ([link removed]) .
Our Moran Minuteman team will also be out and about serving at community events and in disaster relief efforts. Look for us, and we’ll toss you a t-shirt!

** Delivering on Promises
------------------------------------------------------------
When I campaigned for this position, I promised to defend liberty and stop government overreach. As your Congressman, I am working hard to deliver on that promise.
The current administration is out of control, attempting to use the government bureaucracy to dictate what kind of stoves we can have in our own homes. Take a listen to this KTBB soundbite to learn how freedom-loving members of Congress are working to stop these over-burdensome regulations.

I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to go to work every day to protect and defend the freedoms we hold dear. Thank you for trusting me with this honor.
Sincerely,
Nathaniel Moran
Congressman, First District of Texas
