Maria Sjödin
Executive Director, Outright International
Excerpt from the 27th Celebration of Courage awards and gala
"Our daily work is a fight. A fight for dignity and acceptance.
For safety, bodily autonomy and peace. Even for life itself. We fight against well-funded opponents who do their very best to dismantle progress, disseminate hate, and attack the most vulnerable among us. But there is one thing that has always been true about the LGBTIQ community: When we are attacked, we fight back."
