Hi friend,
Last week, Michael introduced a bill to permanently expand the Child Tax Credit (and Earned Income Tax Credit).
This is a policy he’s been fighting for since 2015. And it’s hard to overstate how beneficial it is: when the Child Tax Credit was expanded for just a year in 2021, it cut childhood poverty nearly in half and cut hunger in families with children by 25%.
This legislation will make a tangible difference in the lives of 65 million children. It’s exactly the sort of pragmatic, compassionate leadership Michael will always champion.
The expanded Child Tax Credit was passed in 2021 because Michael fought hard for it — and because Democrats had majorities in both the House and the Senate.
Taking back Congress in 2024 will be crucial to ensure we can keep fighting for policies like these.
Michael is working hard to elect Democrats in key swing states across the country. Will you chip in now to support him and his fight for our working families? [[link removed]]
Thank you!

Subject: Here’s how we’re going to end child poverty
Friend,
Before I was in the Senate, I was the Superintendent of Denver Public Schools. I heard from parents all the time who were working two or three jobs, and no matter what they did, they couldn't get their kids out of poverty.
I introduced the original Child Tax Credit (CTC) in 2015 to give working families the breathing room they desperately needed.
I fought for years in Congress to get it passed. In 2021, we finally got it done, along with an expansion of Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). These policies were an undeniable success:
*
We
cut
child
poverty
in
the
United
States
nearly
in
half
*
60
million
children
benefitted
across
the
country,
including
1
million
children
in
Colorado
*
We
cut
food
insecurity
in
families
with
children
by
26
percent
Unfortunately, these policies only lasted a year, and despite my best efforts, Congress failed to renew them. But I haven’t given up on our fight.
On Wednesday, I introduced the Working Families Tax Relief Act to restore the expanded CTC and EITC.
This bill will increase the income of 40 million households and benefit 65 million children. Qualifying families can depend on monthly payments to help them keep up with the cost of living, get food on the table, and pay for child care. We’ll be putting money back in the pockets of hardworking Americans who need it most.
Every piece of grassroots support we get will make it easier to pass this bill. That’s why I have to ask: will you take a minute to become a citizen co-sponsor of the Working Families Tax Relief Act? [[link removed]]
