Today, world leaders are meeting in Paris to discuss how to fund climate
solutions.

We want the polluters who caused this crisis to pay for the damage.

[ [link removed] ]Will you add your name to our demand: tax oil corporations and use the
funds to pay for a just transition to renewable energy!

Hi John,

From the wildfire smoke in the U.S. to the drought in East Africa, people
everywhere are suffering from the deadly effects of the climate crisis,
all while struggling with the surging cost of living and access to
electricity.

At the same time, those that polluted our world and caused this crisis —
the billionaires at the head of oil corporations — are making record
profits, again.^1

[ [link removed] ]This system that only benefits the rich and destroys our planet needs
changing. That starts with making those responsible for the crisis — coal,
oil and gas corporations — pay up to fund the solutions.

And today, we have a chance to influence that. World leaders are meeting
at a summit in Paris to talk about making the international system fairer
AND how to fund solutions to the climate crisis.^2

Some rich countries will try to just tweak this broken system by
encouraging renewable investments by big corporations. But we know that
won’t work.

Corporations have chosen their own profits over projects that benefit
people and the planet, again and again. The solutions must be
community-led and owned.

What the leaders don’t realize is that we are at home watching — ready to
demand better. If we can show them the weight of public pressure behind
our demand,
John, we can remind them that
they serve people, not oil barons, and push them onto the right course.

[ [link removed] ]Will you urge world leaders to tax the unjust profits of oil
corporations and use that money to fund a just transition to renewable
energy for everyone?

We know that taxing fossil fuel companies alone isn’t enough to solve the
climate crisis. We also need that money to be distributed fairly, making
sure those most affected by climate change around the world, in countries
that had the least to do with creating the crisis, and those without
adequate access to electricity, get some.

But to make sure the transition to renewables is fair and happens quickly,
we need practical solutions NOW, and to hold those responsible
accountable.

[ [link removed] ]Taxing energy companies' massive unjust profits to fund that transition
is a good start. Add your name today.

If we charged oil and gas production by an extra 10% in taxes, we would
have raised an additional $400 billion in 2022 alone.^3

Just think what could have been achieved if that money had gone into
funding renewable community energy for everyone, rather than oil
billionaires’ pockets.

These big, international political summits do have the power to make real
change happen. Last year, at the UN climate conference, pressure from our
movement in the form of protests, petitions, and letters got rich
countries to agree to pay up for loss and damage.^4 We can do this again.

[ [link removed] ]So please, add your name to our petition so we can make sure leaders at
the summit know we want to leave future generations a healthy, safe and
beautiful world. And to achieve that, we need funds for renewables. Let’s
make the coal, oil, and gas companies pay for it.
