Dear NCRC members and allies,
Recent studies show that same-sex couples are more likely to be denied a mortgage and more likely to be offered inferior lending terms than opposite sex couples of similar financial worthiness.
LGBTQ+ youth have a 120% higher risk of reporting homelessness nationally compared to their straight, cisgender peers. And still, there are no federal statutes prohibiting housing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Widespread advocacy is elevating LGBTQ+ housing issues to the mainstream dialogue, but setbacks persist. How do we promote access to capital to purchase homes? How do we combat discrimination in senior living facilities and retirement communities? How do we protect trans people’s access to shelters?
Come learn about national and locally-based initiatives that empower the queer community to live where they want without fear of discrimination.
This is just one of the exciting sessions on tap for this year’s Just Economy Conference.
