A few Disability News messages ago, I mentioned that the Kansas Office of Broadband Development (KOBD) was surveying people's internet access and suggested taking the survey six times.? I sent out the wrong link, it was a test of your internet link I should have sent out. Please accept my apologies. Doing the test six times lets the KOBD know when your internet speed and connectivity is slower or faster.? Here is the link to the test.? My apologies for any confusion I caused.?

Let?s Explore the Emergence of Artificial Intelligence Work Tools

Good morning colleagues,

The AoD Disability Employment TA Center's National Community of Practice (CoP) webinar, "Let?s Explore the Emergence of Artificial Intelligence Work Tools", will be hosted Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 3:00-4:00 P.M. Eastern Time.

Come join DETAC as we begin a dialogue to examine the new frontier of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the potential opportunities and challenges within the labor force for people with disabilities. New AI features and products such as Virtual Reality (VR) have the potential to increase accessibility both within the workforce and our communities. At the same time, there are concerns surfacing about new tools not being designed for people with disabilities in mind and safeguarding privacy. In collaboration with ODEP who funds the Partnership on Employment and Accessible Technology (PEAT) and a guest speaker from the field of AI (Floreo), we will explore new tools that are changing the way we interact with the world and how it could shape the future of work for people with disabilities.

Presenters:

David Jones
Director, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Administration for
Community Living

Nathan Cunningham
US DOL, Office of Disability Employment Policy, Senior Policy Advisor, Federal Project Officer for PEAT

Vijay Ravindran
Founder/CEO, Floreo

Registration is required. Please register for this webinar here.

KCDHH note: Some of you might be interested in this webinar. KCDHH is a member of National Association of State Agencies serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NASADHH) and NASADHH will be leading a deliberate push related to Older Americans Act (OAA) reauthorization effort which will be up next year. NASADHH collaborates with some national organizations including HLAA and others seeking for specific funding allocations to promote more services for elderly population who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing at State level. This might be good opportunity for you to become more involved as you will start to notice KCDHH becoming more active in this area of interest. Thanks.
