Growing up as the 6th of seven children, I saw my parents’ tireless work to provide for us and set us up for a bright future. They made sure all seven of us became first-generation college graduates. Thanks to their sacrifices, I learned the importance of dedication, hard work, and community – values I still uphold today.
As we see inflamed anti-immigrant rhetoric across the nation, I am reminded of my parents' sacrifices. The time, work, and love they put into ensuring our access to education is a reflection of the resilience of Latino families in the US.
In Congress, I am committed to paying it forward. As the newly elected chair of BOLD PAC, the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I am determined to take down barriers that impede Latino progressives from running for office.
