Friend,

Republican Congressman Will Hurd, who represents Texas’s 23rd district, just made a surprising announcement: He’s not seeking reelection in 2020. And he’s not alone: Hurd is now the sixth House GOP retirement announced in just the last two weeks.

This rush of retirements is making one thing clear: Republicans see the writing on the wall that Democrats are on the offense and working to expand our House majority in 2020. And nowhere is that more true than Texas, where one political commentator has dubbed the rush of unexpected retirements as “Texodus.”

With Hurd’s retirement, TX-23 is now one of our best opportunities to flip yet another district from red to blue, and we have an outstanding candidate to do it - Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones.

Gina -- a first-generation American, an Iraq War veteran, and former intelligence officer -- ran for this extremely competitive seat in 2018 and she lost in one of the closest races in the country. She has what it takes to flip this district and join me in Congress to fight for affordable healthcare, comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform, and to protect and strengthen our democracy.

I’m doing all I can to help protect our wonderful new members from tough districts and elect new ones like Gina, who will be champions for working people. Will you rush a donation to Gina’s campaign and mine right now to show your support and give her the resources to flip TX-23 from red to blue next year?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

I know Gina will be a hard-working leader for the people of Texas. Let’s help finish what she started in 2018 and send her to Congress to expand our Democratic House Majority.

Thanks,

Adam
