Hi friend,

We talk at length about how racial justice and climate justice are inextricably linked.

But what is not talked about nearly enough is how interconnected LGBTQ+ justice is with climate justice.

Research has shown that LGBTQ+ people are more likely to experience housing discrimination, which results in higher exposure to air pollution as well as toxins within their homes.

The first step towards combating this discrimination and working toward justice is by respecting how people identify and making sure they are seen and recognized. And that starts with using the pronouns and names that people would like to be referred by.

So friend, please let us know if we have your correct name, pronouns, and other info on our files >> [link removed]

We at California Environmental Voters hope every one of our members feels included in this community. That includes you, friend.

Making inclusivity and belonging a priority is important at a time when trans and queer rights are under attack. This past year, 420 anti-LGBTQ+ bills β€” a record amount β€” have been introduced in state legislatures across the country.

It’s especially important for trans and queer youth, who make up an estimated 40% of unhoused youth despite making up only 7% of the total population.

Our unhoused neighbors are on the frontlines of the extreme weather changes resulting from the climate crisis. Part of our work in fighting for climate justice is fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, inclusion, and belonging.

Even if you do not identify as LGBTQ+, we want to make sure that our records are up to date in case you have changed your first or last name, email, or any contact information since you first became a member!

Friend, please let us know if there have been any changes to your information!

Thank you!
