The presidency was never meant to have this type of power over the American people.

For far too long, presidents from both sides of the aisle have ignored Congress and undermined the constitutional order.
This is because they abuse their virtually unchecked power to declare national emergencies.
Congress needs to reassert its authority and restore checks and balances as the founders intended.
That’s why I’ve introduced the Article One Act, which would require congressional approval to extend a national emergency beyond the original 30-day period.
It’s time we do our job of keeping the White House in check.
