Friend,

At the beginning of June, the Supreme Court justices released their
financial disclosure forms showing their stock earnings, income, and gifts
received for 2022.

Well, seven of the justices did -- Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito did
not.(1)

In the wake of revelations that he's received hundreds of thousands of
dollars' worth of gifts from billionaire Harlan Crow, Thomas refuses to
share what he has garnered this year. But the decisions he’s rendered in
the past six month show just what those gifts have bought:

* He voted against upholding the Indian Child Welfare Act, which gives
preference for adopting Native American children to members of their
tribe.
* He wrote a 50-page screed against upholding the Voting Rights Act to
stop the dilution of Black voting power.
* He voted to remove protections for wetlands that become our drinking
water.
* He voted to excuse Twitter for allowing ISIS to proliferate terrorist
threats.

Thomas’ blatant corruption and disregard for the Constitution are
undermining Americans’ faith in the Supreme Court, and he must be held to
account. We have joined with the Alliance for Justice campaign to
highlight Thomas’ misdeeds and demand that he resign.

It is unconscionable that judges at every other level of the federal
system are bound by an enforceable code of ethics but the Supreme Court is
not.

The results have been a Supreme Court rampant with corruption and bribery,
and no one has taken greater advantage than Thomas.

He was the lone dissent on a January 6 insurrection case to protect the
co-conspirators -- including his wife, who was discovered to be part of
planning the insurrection. He refused to recuse himself from future cases
involving his wife.

And then there is the matter of Harlan Crow, from whom Thomas accepted
gifts ranging from lavish trips to private school tuition for relatives to
rent-free housing for his mother.(2)

Do we think that a petition will convince Thomas to step down? No. But our
call will send an unmistakable message to the Biden administration and
Congress that we are not turning a blind eye to what Thomas has done, and
that they need to step up to protect this important institution.

Thank you for joining the fight.
