PEAK in Community
Here’s the latest on how PEAK is engaging with members, partners, nonprofits, and allies in advocating for transformative change and leading the way in advancing equitable and effective grantmaking practices.
Programs and Knowledge Director Lita Pardi is a member of the PA Humanities Grant Development Advisory Group, which is guiding the development of a statewide grant program that continues PA Humanities’ relief and recovery grantmaking for organizations doing work in the humanities. The goal of the program is to help organizations to center equitable practices and the principles of emergent learning as they work closely with their communities to address the hopes and needs of their residents.
Lita also attended Grantmakers for Effective Organizations 2023 Learning Conference, which focused on equity-informed, community-driven grantmaking practices focusing on evaluating impact- and partner-centered reporting. Highlights included hearing from speakers about different approaches to unlearning habits and practices and energizing discussions with fellow attendees about identifying and working through what’s standing in the way of acting differently. Sara Sanders attended virtually and is excited to bring back ideas for PEAK’s online events.
President and CEO Satonya Fair continues to serve as a member of the United Philanthropy Forum’s policy committee, this month joining the subcommittee on voting rights to support the implementation of the Forum's strategy to address policy priorities via mini coalitions made up of member philanthropy-supporting organizations.
Satonya represented PEAK at a recent Infrastructure Funders Group (IFG) convening, their first since 2019. One aim of the IFG is to strengthen relationships between social sector infrastructure funders and the philanthropy- and nonprofit-supporting organizations that comprise this infrastructure. Special thanks to Rory Neuner, Barr Foundation, and Tony Bowen, Fidelity Charitable, IFG cochairs, for curating a wonderful event, which helped create and deepen community and connections.
Member Outreach Coordinator Nichia McFarlane attended the Maine Philanthropy Center Conference in Portland to meet members and prospective members in her area. Senior Community Engagement Manager Altinay Cortes attended the RECONNECT2023, the conference hosted by the Community Foundations of Canada to meet with and better understand the needs of international grantmakers and community foundations.
