Global Reach, Local Impact: Bloomberg Philanthropies Annual Report 2022-2023

Across our partners and programs, Bloomberg Philanthropies has been taking actions with global reach, and local impact.

Our focus on cities, always part of our unique approach, is especially important at this moment. The global population is moving into urban areas at an unprecedented rate. At the same time, mayors and local leaders are working to find solutions to some of the world's biggest challenges. "By investing in mayors and local leaders, we can scale and spread change faster than ever — and help make this period of unprecedented urbanization a time of unprecedented global progress," writes Mike in his Annual Letter on Philanthropy.

In addition to supporting cities, we also deepened commitments to longstanding priorities, like accelerating the clean energy transition, supporting public art and cultural institutions, reducing smoking, and preventing gun violence. And we launched new programs to help shrink the racial wealth gap, promote widespread student success, and ensure that local leaders have the ability to access historic U.S. funding opportunities for infrastructure and climate efforts.

All of that was driven by our unique approach — and led to meaningful progress for people around the world, which our CEO Patti Harris outlines in her Annual CEO letter.
