Eric Adams’ extreme budget cuts are going to hit New Yorkers hard, Friend.
That’s why last week the People’s Plan coalition launched a major digital ad campaign to spread awareness about Mayor Adams’ extreme budget cuts to social services and agencies that New Yorkers rely on.
Hundreds of thousands of NYC residents have already seen our ads, and we’re aiming to reach thousands more so we can put pressure on Mayor Adams to prioritize a budget for the working class and Black and brown New Yorkers.
We’re pushing hard in these last few days before the City Council votes on the budget. Last Friday we showed up to Mayor Adams’ Broadway-themed fundraiser – where attendees paid $1,000 per ticket – to pressure the Mayor and let New Yorkers know that we need more investment in our communities, not in policing and incarceration.
With our friends – including Alliance for Quality Education, the People’s Plan NYC, CUNY Rising, Make the Road New York, Jews for Racial & Economic Justice (JFREF), and Urban Libraries United – we rolled out a mobile billboard that shined as bright as Broadway lights outside of the Mayor’s fundraiser.
This is urgent, Friend. City Council will vote on the budget by June 30 so every action we take in the coming days counts. We’re going to keep the pressure on to make sure as many New Yorkers as possible know what the Mayor’s austerity agenda means for all of us and fight back.
Can you help us keep the pressure on to fight for the People’s Budget by contributing $5, $10, or $15 now? We rely on grassroots supporters like you to help us with the resources we need to take action on the ground – like mobile billboards, digital ads, and most of all, community organizing.
We can create a more just, safer, and equitable New York by fighting for it together. We’ll reach out soon with more actions you can take in the coming days to pass the People’s Budget.
Thanks for everything you do,
The NYCC team
