The social media site TikTok boasts over 1 billion monthly active users, placing it in the top five of all such outlets being frequented today.
The platform is known for all kinds of crazy, but a recent post has left even some of its most hardened users shaking their heads in disgust — and others cheering.
Such is the nature of social media, which for good or bad, the medium provides a real-time snapshot of what people believe — and what they’re thinking — or not.
TikToker @kelliamirah posted a video last week of an abortion cake she designed and ordered for a friend.
Yes, an abortion cake.
The colorful confection was made by Publix and featured the disturbing image of a baby being tossed thru a basketball hoop. The blue and pink cake was emblazoned with the message:
“Congrats! It’s A Borted.”
Presumably, the basketball hoop represents a trash can.
The crass and cavalier attitude is heartbreaking and heart wrenching, a detestable reminder of the brokenness and blindness we’re facing in our quest to protect innocent preborn life.
The TikTok video goes on to include the presentation of the cake and the mother of the baby who was aborted, blowing out the candles. It’s as if she sees the death of her baby as reason to celebrate. Maybe she does.
It’s this blindness and evil thinking that motivates us here at Focus on the Family to continue praying, promoting, and persuading the public on the value and uniqueness of every human life.
It’s why we launched a new campaign last week that featured a new ad making the case for humanity in the womb. Have you seen it yet? As of this writing, the 60-second commercial has been viewed over 90 million times.
We need to remember that what we find obvious — that children in the womb are real babies worthy of protection — far too many others can’t or choose not to see.
I don’t know anything about @kelliamirah, of course, but she’s a real person who would benefit from our prayers. I hope you will join me in lifting her up to the Lord, that her eyes would be opened, her heart would be softened — and that she would be drawn to her Heavenly Father who can heal and bring comfort. Tragically, there are many women and men just like her.
And please share this new commercial we’re running, won’t you? If we can get this video in front of abortion-minded women like @kelliamirah, we believe the Lord will use it to save their child’s life. |
