Procaps S.A. de C.V. Issues Alert

June 7, 2023 -?PROCAPS S.A. DE C.V. from San Salvador, El Salvador is voluntarily recalling Laboratorios Lopez's Bacaolinita 8 FL OZ, a dietary supplement, due to the label of the product not declaring PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil as an inactive ingredient on the labeling.

Safety data on the oral ingestion of PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil in humans is scarce. Although rare, it has been published that PEG can interact with other medications and in sensitized individuals may cause hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis.

Bacaolinita was distributed to distributors in Delaware, Rhode Island, Texas, and California, and reached consumers through retail stores and online.

J.T.M. Provisions Company Issues Recall

June 9, 2023 -?J.T.M. Provisions Company, a Harrison, OH establishment, is recalling approximately 200 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) chili topping product due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen.?

The product labeled as chili topping may actually contain beef taco filling, which contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the product label.?

The frozen, RTE Homestyle Chili Topping packages, which may actually contain beef taco filling, were produced March 14, 2023, and packed inside cases labeled as beef taco filling.

Willamette Valley Fruit Co. Issues Recall

June 13, 2023 -?Willamette Valley Fruit Co, Salem, OR is voluntarily recalling select packages of frozen fruit containing strawberries grown in Mexico due to the potential for Hepatitis A contamination.

Products were distributed via the following retailers:?

  • Walmart:?Great Value Sliced Strawberries, Great Value Mixed Fruit, and Great Value Antioxidant Blend distributed to select Walmart stores in AR, AZ, CA, CO, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, and WY from January 24th, 2023 to June 8th, 2023
  • Costco Wholesale Stores:?Rader Farms Organic Fresh Start Smoothie Blend distributed to Costco Wholesale stores in Colorado, Texas, California, and Arizona from October 3rd, 2022 and June 8th, 2023.
  • HEB:?Rader Farms Organic Berry Trio distributed to HEB stores in Texas from July 18th, 2022 to June 8th, 2023.?

Consumers are urged to check their freezers for the recalled product, not to consume it and either discard the product or return it to the store for a refund. Products that have different lot code or purchase dates are not subject to this recall.

Supplement Manufacturing Partner, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert?

June 13, 2023 -?Supplement Manufacturing Partner Inc. is recalling Havasu Nutrition?s Beet Root Powder + because it contains an undeclared?milk?allergen.

The product was distributed?online through Amazon?and?www.havasunutrition.com, and is packaged in 11.5-ounce jars with lot # 111-2023021 and a Best by Date of January 2026 printed on the bottom of the bottle (see photo below).

There has been one allergic reaction to the undeclared milk reported to date.

June 14, 2023 -?Gelato Boy of Boulder, CO is recalling 728 cases / 5,824 units of Chocolate Chunk Gelato because it may contain undeclared milk.

Gelato Boy Chocolate Chunk was distributed nationwide and is sold at grocery stores, including but not limited to Sprouts Farmer?s Market, King Soopers / City Market, Whole Foods Market and others. The product can be found in the ice cream and novelties aisle.

The product is labeled ?CHOCOLATE CHUNK GELATO? and comes in a 16 fl oz paper pint container with a lid. The affected Lot Code is 4043T2, with a Best By date of 04/25. The UPC is 853457008002.

Richin Trading Inc. Issues Recall

June 16, 2023 -?Richin Trading Inc, of Alhambra, CA?is voluntarily recalling its MINI FRUIT JELLY CUP (35.27oz. and 52.90 oz.) due to the products being a potential choking hazard based off the product size. Small jelly cups have previously been implicated in choking deaths of children.

The recalled jelly cups were distributed nationwide in retail food stores and are sold in large clear jars.?

Frito-Lay Issues Allergy Alert?

June 16, 2023 -?Frito-Lay of Plano, TX issued a voluntary recall of select 15 oz. Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dips that may contain an undeclared milk allergen.?

While the front of the affected jar is correctly labeled as Tostitos Avocado Salsa, the back of the jar is mislabeled with another product?s nutrition information and declarations. As a result, the allergen milk is not declared on the label.

The product covered by this recall was distributed nationwide at retail stores and via e-commerce channels. Consumers would have been able to purchase the jars as early as April 5, 2023.

June 16, 2023 -?Conagra Brands, Inc., a Russellville, AR establishment, is recalling approximately 2,717 pounds of frozen beef shepherd?s pie products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically clear, flexible plastic.

The frozen beef shepherd?s pie products were produced on March 1, 2023, with time stamps ranging between 17:45-17:56 hours.
