I am honored to announce my candidacy for South Carolina State Senate. The people of District 42 deserve a fighter who will put them first — someone from the community who will never give up

We need new, progressive leadership to confront the challenges facing our district. I will make sure our community and our state is working to make our lives better. Will you watch my campaign launch video and become a founding grassroots donor?

 

The status quo: Underfunded schools, gridlock traffic, rising housing costs – isn’t good enough. We need a leader who has proven experience in the Legislature and in our communities to continue the fight for education reform, affordable housing, veterans, and small businesses.

I’m a Lowcountry native, a community advocate, chef, and legislator running for South Carolina State Senate in District 42. I’ve fought for the constituents of Charleston and passed critical bills to protect folks from predatory lending, improve drinking water quality and increase veteran’s benefits.

In service, I honor those we lost that tragic night at Mother Emanuel AME Church, including my sister, Myra, I am determined to carry this same level of dedication into the Senate, as I have in the House, persisting in the fight for my constituents' wellbeing.
