June marks a time to celebrate the vibrant LGBTQ+ community and honor the brave individuals and organizations who for decades have been fighting tirelessly for full equality and freedom.

Freedom includes the ability to live authentically and without fear.

I have and will always stand with the LGBTQ+ community. During the 2022 campaign, I promised that if elected to Congress I would co-sponsor the Equality Act. Today, I made good on that promise.

The Equality Act is a crucial piece of legislation that protects individuals from discrimination in employment, housing, education, and federally-funded programs on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation. I’m working hard to beat back attempts to scale back progress toward equality. Full equality can only be realized when the civil rights of ALL Americans are protected. That’s our fight.

At a time when the far right is relentlessly targeting the LGBTQ+ community, especially young people, now is the time to show that we stand with our friends, family, and neighbors.
