Hello Supporter,
We are halfway through the year already! Time sure does fly by! We have been so impressed by all the work our community partners have done, and there’s so much to look forward to this summer -- including the National Sexual Assault Conference just a few short weeks away.
Each year around this time NSVRC, along with the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, ask our communities to help us recognize someone in the field who has dedicated their time and energy to preventing sexual abuse, harassment, and assault with the Gail Burns-Smith. This award is a unique opportunity to honor someone whose work has bridged advocating for survivors of sexual violence AND treatment for those who have caused sexual harm.
Named after Gail Burns-Smith, a visionary leader who helped create the first victim advocate program for sex offender treatment, this award seeks to honor her legacy by celebrating those whose work furthers partnerships between advocates working on behalf of victims/survivors and those working in the area of sex offender management and treatment. If there’s anyone in your life who has had a similar impact, please be sure to nominate them! Just submit a brief bio about them along with two letters of support, and we will be more than happy to learn about your incredible nominee!
Remember, the deadline to nominate someone for this award ends on June 30, 2023. Please send nominations to [email protected].
Thank you for continuing to be such a valued supporter to us and we look forward to receiving your nominations!
Best,
NSVRC Team
P.S. Have you registered for #NSAC2023? We hope to see you there in San Francisco, and encourage you to register while spots are still available.
