I hope that you have been following Ameinu in the news over the last few weeks. On June 4th, 1000 Ameinu activists ”Marched for Democracy” in New York City’s Celebrate Israel parade. Wearing t-shirts that said “Zionism Equals Democracy”, we were the story of the parade. Over the last few weeks, there have been articles in the American Jewish press, the Israeli press in English and Hebrew, podcast episodes, and social media attention that all highlighted our impact. For example, I also hope that you have seen the Haaretz Op-Ed that my parade co-chair Shany Granot and I wrote the day after the event. |

Sunday’s parade was just one of the many successes that resulted from the joint work of Ameinu and UnXeptable over the course of a five-day stretch around the parade. We held demonstrations while Ministers, as well as Knesset Member and judicial reform architect Simcha Rothman, met with Jewish community members, protesting in front of the Arutz Sheva and Jerusalem Post conferences where they were speaking. On Sunday itself, there were protests before and after the parade!
Our presence also led to Ministers canceling appearances, including several Ministers who did not attend the parade. Several days after the parade Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he would not meet with the American Jewish Committee during their forthcoming mission to Israel. This mimicked Netanyahu canceling his appearance before the North American General Assembly following Ameinu’s leadership at the World Zionist Congress and our March for Democracy to the Israeli Supreme Court in April. |

Many people asked me during the parade how it was possible that they had never heard of Ameinu before. “Your work resonates with us,” they said, “we want to get more involved.” Over the next few weeks, we will share more about our recent work and programming, and we look forward to your participation at future events. |
My only regret from the parade was that we ran out of t-shirts. However, we in Ameinu always find ways to turn lemons into lemonade, and therefore you now have the opportunity to order a t-shirt for yourself to wear to future rallies and events in your communities across the country. To do so, please click here. T-shirts are twenty dollars, including shipping costs. |
The parade demonstrated that our participation matters. The strength of Israelis newer to the United States working with many of us active in Jewish communal life cannot be denied. Our future gives me hope. B’Shalom, |
Nomi Colton-Max Ameinu, Vice President

Here are some more of the programs, activities and initiatives we have been working on: |
Ameinu is proud to partner with National Council of Jewish Women to pause on the anniversary of the overturning of Roe to to mourn all those who have been harmed and killed by bans on their bodies.
In Judaism, it is customary to mark the anniversary date of a death, a yahrtzeit, to mourn, remember, and honor the departed. We invite you to pause on the anniversary of the overturning of Roe to honor it as a day for mourning all of the people whose lives were taken from them because the government stripped them of their right to abortion access.
We invite you to join us and NCJW on June 23 at 1pm ET/10am PT for a virtual candle lighting, prayer, and discussion on the state of abortion access since the June 24, 2022 decision.

Don't miss what's happening at The Third Narrative website! |
Too many of Israel’s supporters defend the indefensible, including its radically right wing government and the morally unsustainable occupation. At the same time, too many of Israel’s critics cross the line that separates productive criticism from polemical, inaccurate and unfair attacks.
In response, we launched The Third Narrative initiative, an informative resource & sounding board for those who want to pursue peace and justice for both Israelis and Palestinians.
Visit The Third Narrative website and Explore the topics & categories on the Homepage, including Tough Questions, and peruse the Blog, the Newsroom, our Initiatives, etc. Please spread the word for people to subscribe for free, and donate to support us if you wish.
