Hi, John,
I’m Abby, and I joined our movement in 2018, when I was 16 years old and a Junior in high school. Learning to organize and build my power with Sunrise has been life changing. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m working to help other young people join our movement and get the support they need to recruit even more students.
The biggest project I’ve taken on is our middle and high school summit. For the first time ever, we’re holding a summit made specifically for the youngest members of our movement. Right now, 150 high school and middle school students are packing their bags, leaving home, and making the trek to Washington D.C.
There could have been more. Over 400 people applied for the program and we had to turn 250 of them away. With your help, we can support everyone who wants to get involved in future summits. Chip in now to cover these participants’ needs and make sure programs like this for our youngest leaders keep growing.

I’m confident that to achieve our goals in 2020 and beyond we’re going to need to support thousands of high school and middle school students to lead. In the past year, we’ve seen tens of thousands of young people mobilize to strike, engaging their schools and communities. The moral authority they hold when confronting the future has changed the world, and we’re going to need more of their energy and power to win the Green New Deal.
But, as I know first-hand, students often need extra support to get going. Organizing as a student can be isolating, especially without guidance. This work is not easy, and our youngest leaders need to know we’re with them every step of the way—but without your help, that isn’t possible.
By bringing together student leaders from around the country, we are training up the next generation and investing in the future of this movement. Chip in today to support the work of our middle and high school leaders and make sure these summits continue.
Thank you for being in this fight with us,
Abby
