John,
The world has a plastic problem. We see plastic pollution everywhere we look — it litters our parks, beaches, rivers, lakes, and oceans, and it’s even inside our bodies in the form of microplastics.
(Not so) Fun Fact: Over nine million metric tons of plastic, including three million metric tons of microplastics, enter the environment globally every year! 😱
The deluge of fracked gas has unleashed a dangerous buildout of wells, storage facilities, and pipelines, worsening climate change and spreading a toxic web of pollution throughout the United States.

It’s what we call the fracking to plastics pipeline.
Plastic lasts hundreds to thousands of years, and its toxic remains pose serious challenges. So what can we do?
Our newest research looks at fracked gas and fracked gas processing as the primary sources of plastic feedstock (the stuff used to make plastic) along with its toxic lifecycle.

It’s time to take real steps to curtail the supply of plastic by banning fracking and shutting down dangerous petrochemical plants.
Food & Water Watch has a dedicated team of researchers tasked with finding the solutions to our most pressing issues; it’s another way we fight like we live here. You can keep this critical work going with a gift today.
