VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump left stammering on air when caught giving disastrous answer
The second part of the disgraced ex-president's Fox News interview proved every bit as catastrophic as the first, as Trump ended up stammering and stumbling over his own contradictory policy suggestions, growing visibly confused. [RETWEET THAT!]

Hunter Biden expected to plead guilty to tax-related misdemeanor crimes as part of a plea agreement
The Trump-appointed US attorney for Delaware has reached a plea agreement with the president's beleaguered son, who is expected to plead guilty to two federal misdemeanor counts of failing to pay his taxes. Hunter also faces a separate felony gun possession charge that is likely to be dismissed if he meets certain conditions. Republicans are already crying foul and the development has only increased their deranged fixation on Hunter, who, it's always worth mentioning, is a private citizen and not a political figure.

Justice Samuel Alito took luxury fishing vacation with GOP billionaire who later had cases before the court
In 2008, Republican megadonor Paul Singer personally flew Alito on a private jet to Alaska for a luxury fishing vacation the justice conveniently failed to disclose — in direct violation of federal law. Singer's hedge fund has repeatedly had cases come before the Supreme Court since, and, in news that will shock no one, Alito has recused himself from exactly none of them.

First in the nation gender-affirming care ban struck down in Arkansas
Finally, some good news in the fight against the Republican Party's theocratic transphobic crusade. A US district judge has ruled that the state of Arkansas violated several sections of the US Constitution when it banned all gender-affirming treatments for people under 18. The ruling says depriving trans minors of treatments like hormone therapy would cause them irreparable harm, and that delaying care until adulthood would force teens to go through changes inconsistent with their gender identity.

QAnon Rep. Lauren Boebert to force House vote on impeaching Biden
In a desperate ploy to maintain some modicum of relevance, the Trump-loving, gun-toting, Colorado Republican is using a procedural tactic that requires the House to hold a floor vote on her doomed resolution.

Controversial Virginia state senators, including "pro-life" Democrat, ousted in primary election
In a huge win and promising sign for abortion rights advocates in Virginia, two of the state’s most controversial political figures — Democratic Sen. Joe Morrissey and Republican Sen. Amanda Chase — lost their respective state Senate primaries to hard-charging challengers. Morrissey, a so-called political centrist and anti-choice Democrat, lost to former state legislator Lashrecse Aird, an unapologetic, “100%” supporter of abortion rights. Onward! [RETWEET THAT!]

Missing Titanic sub once faced massive lawsuit over depths it could safely travel to
As is too often the case with these kinds of disasters, it now appears that the company responsible for the missing Titanic submersible cut corners to save costs, possibly leading to the current situation. The submersible was previously the target of safety complaints from an OceanGate employee, who specifically complained the vessel was not capable of descending to such extreme depths before he was fired.
Scientists on Twitter head for the exit
Right-wing billionaire tech bozo Elon Musk ignited yet another outrage cycle by joining an anti-vax pile-on against a respected vaccine researcher who refused to debate crank presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., prompting many scientists to finally ditch Twitter. They say the platform has devolved into a cesspit under Musk and now does more harm than good.
Republican governor scoots off to Alabama for a fundraiser while his home state of Mississippi reels from back-to-back tornadoes
Taking a page out of Ted Cruz's playbook — specifically the chapter on ditching your home state when it needs you most — GOP Gov. Tate Reeves demonstrated that his own political interests outweigh the needs of ordinary Mississippians by jaunting off to Alabama for a Republican fundraising event as his state was reeling from back-to-back storms that killed one person, injured dozens, destroyed homes and businesses, and exacerbated lingering power outages from severe thunderstorms.

Today’s Action: Tell Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine to release wrongfully convicted Keith LaMar!
Death row inmate Keith LaMar is set to be executed on November 16, 2023, despite extensive evidence that he was wrongfully convicted of murder by the state of Ohio. LaMar, imprisoned in 1989 for using deadly force to defend himself against a violent home robbery, was only four years into his sentence when an uprising broke out at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The event resulted in the death of a prison guard as well as multiple inmates, and with no one to pin the catastrophe on at the time the state worked as hard as they could to ensure LaMar would take the blame — all to maintain the illusion that they had the situation under control.
Paid informants offered false testimony, evidence of his innocence was intentionally withheld (including a confession to one of the murders from another inmate), and potential Black jurors were intentionally dismissed from hearing the trial. Keith LaMar, an innocent Black man, was sentenced to death by an all-white jury and judge. He has subsequently spent the last 28 years in solitary confinement with no exceptions for good behavior, fighting to keep his indomitable spirit alive.
Write Gov. DeWine and demand that he IMMEDIATELY release LaMar!
In 2011, the Joint Task Force to Review the Administration of Ohio's Death Penalty asserted "that no one should be indicted, let alone sentenced to death, based solely on the uncorroborated testimony of jailhouse informants." This is an independent task force of retired judges, attorneys, and college professors that was literally brought together by the Ohio Supreme Court. Based on this recommendation alone, LaMar should NOT be sentenced to death.
LaMar has suffered physical and mental abuse for nearly three decades for a crime he did not commit, thanks to a badly broken, notoriously racist justice system. It's past time to make it right.
Fill out Gov. DeWine’s “Contact Us” form to call for the immediate release of Keith LaMar, before it's too late!
