For years, Israel and the United States have promoted and protected the Palestinian Authority and PA President Mahmoud Abbas, despite murderous incitement against Israel and Jews, and the ongoing violation of America’s Taylor Force Act, forbidding PA payment of “salaries” to terrorists and their families. How does that mesh with Israel’s primary obligation – to protect the citizens of Israel? Is there a larger strategy at work?

Jewish Policy Center Senior Director Shoshana Bryen will join EMET President Sarah Stern to discuss Israel’s calculated determination to protect Abbas and the PA – as well as to protect King Abdullah II and the Kingdom of Jordan. And how that decision relates to Iran’s regional aspirations.

About Our Speaker: Shoshana Bryen is Senior Director of the Jewish Policy Center in Washington, DC, and Editor of inFOCUS Quarterly. A writer and speaker, she is also host of a webinar series that brings audiences a wide variety of topics, foreign and domestic, and conversations with academics, political figures, and media commentators.

A specialist in American defense policy and Middle East affairs, she was previously Executive Director and Senior Director for Security Policy at JINSA, where she was author of JINSA Reports. She has worked with the Strategic Studies Institute of the U.S. Army War College, the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, and lectured at the National Defense University in Washington.

Mrs. Bryen coordinated programs in the Middle East for military professionals that allowed nearly 500 American military officers to engage in professional discussions of issues that both unite and divide the United States, Israel, and Jordan. She also created a program to take the cadets and midshipmen of America’s service academies to Israel for a three-week work/study program that permitted hundreds of future officers to have a positive, in-depth experience in Israel.

Her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times, the New York Sun, and Defense News, among other print outlets, and in Forbes.com, Jewish News Syndicate, American Thinker, and Gatestone Institute online, as she has been interviewed on a variety of radio and television programs.

Mrs. Bryen is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Aleethia Foundation that provides opportunities for wounded veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and of The American Jewish International Relations Institute (AJIRI).
