Dear Friend,

Our mission at the American Diabetes Association® is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. To achieve our mission, the ADA's Government Affairs & Advocacy team works to educate lawmakers about diabetes, make sure laws protect the rights of people with diabetes, and enable people with diabetes to share their stories with lawmakers. Each year, we develop a set of priorities to guide this work. Your feedback is important in helping us determine what we should focus on next year.

Please voice your opinion about the diabetes issues that are most important to you by completing our annual legislative and regulatory priorities survey. This survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous.

Your voice matters! So far this year, we have worked with lawmakers and Diabetes Advocates to drive legislative, legal and regulatory changes with potential to improve the lives of people with and at risk for diabetes. Here are some examples of the strides we've made so far in 2019:

* We reached major milestones in our Make Insulin Affordable campaign. A bipartisan group of Senators introduced legislation that has promise to reduce the cost of insulin for millions of Americans. In addition, the state of Colorado was the first in the nation to limit how much insurers can charge people with diabetes for insulin.

* Federal funding for critical diabetes research and programs increased this year and over 80% of Congress joined letters urging renewal of the Special Diabetes Program, which funds research toward a cure for type 1 diabetes and brings diabetes
prevention and treatment to Native communities.

* New Mexico became the 34th state to meet all three tenets of ADA's Safe at School® campaign, ensuring that children with diabetes can access an education and be medically safe at school.

As we look to 2020, we need a few minutes of your time to help us focus our efforts to best serve the diabetes community and achieve the greatest impact. Please click the link below to give us your opinion on our priorities in the year ahead (or copy and paste the link into your browser window).
