Hi John, I can hardly believe they’re trying this again —
MAGA Republican Anna Paulina Luna just reintroduced another resolution to censure me in the House. During her entire time in Congress, she has only introduced 5 bills, and 4 of them are attacking me.
I know what you’re thinking, and no, this is not the same resolution that just failed on the House floor just two days ago, with nearly 1 in 10 Republicans opposed.
But it is another effort to silence and intimidate Democratic members of Congress who stand up to the corrupt former president. Especially ones they believe are particularly effective in defense of our democracy.
There are two very important reasons why this should matter to you:
First, if they succeed in discouraging members of Congress from exposing the corruption of their party, it will only breed further corruption. There is already a dangerous strand of authoritarianism running through today’s GOP, and silencing the opposition is a dangerous part of that playbook.
And second, these political smear tactics divert the resources of the House away from the pressing priorities that Congress should be addressing, and that I want to tackle as your Senator — homelessness, the high cost of housing and health care, gun violence, the restoration of reproductive rights and more. This is the second week that Kevin McCarthy is using the time of the people’s House to engage in destructive political exercises, not the work that we need to be doing to move the country forward.
I am working every day to bring down the cost of housing and find shelter for people living on the street. I am seeking new funding for the treatment of mental illness and to end the opioid crisis. I am working hard to pass a Green New Deal and to save our planet. And I am fighting for an economy that works for everyone, so that another generation of Americans can enjoy the American dream. But we have to take this seriously.
Only 24 members of Congress in history have been formally censured, and for actual transgressions — not as retribution for investigating and impeaching the now-indicted former president — and the resolution’s passage would be another terrible lurch away from democracy and a body blow to the institution.
So John, I have to ask you again: Rush an urgent donation to help our campaign respond right now to this concerted effort by MAGA Republicans to silence those who defend our democracy and hold the corrupt to account. We have to fight this effort with everything we’ve got.

I’ll be sure to let you know when more develops — for now, thanks for being such a dedicated member of this team. Because this isn’t just an attack on me, it’s an attack on anyone attempting to pursue constitutional oversight and accountability, and our democracy.
