Twice this year, federal appeals courts have blocked bans on bump stocks, saying it’s “up to Congress” to do something.

So I did something.

I introduced the Banning Unlawful Machinegun Parts (BUMP) Act to finally ban these devices once and for all.

It’s up to us to keep our communities safe. We need to show a groundswell of support for this critical legislation — and it’s important to me to include your voice. Will you add your name to become a citizen co-sponsor of the BUMP Act?

Bump stocks and similar devices are dangerous, allowing semi-automatic firearms to increase their rate of fire and essentially operate as machine guns.

We saw the horrific impact of bump stocks in 2017 in Las Vegas, when a shooter who used them killed 60 people and wounded hundreds more in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. We must keep these devices out of the wrong hands.

Gun safety and responsible gun ownership are top priorities of mine. Last year, I helped broker a historic gun safety bill — the first one to pass Congress in decades.

But that is only the start of our work to protect our communities from gun violence, and I’m hoping you’ll help us take another step toward progress today.

Please, add your name next to mine to become a citizen co-sponsor of the BUMP Act and take a stand for gun safety:
