John, can I share something with you?

When I came out in college, I knew I was interested in a career in public service, but I feared that I would have to face a serious choice between pursuing the field of my dreams or living my authentic life openly.

Seeing others in the LGBTQ+ community demonstrate acts of courage by coming out, being themselves, and being public about who they are and who they love, I came to realize that I could do both. I could run for office and be honest about who I am. And that's exactly what I did.

When I became the first openly gay senator in our nation's history, I understood that I needed to use this extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. And from lowering prescription drug prices to protecting same-sex marriage through the Respect for Marriage Act, I've worked hard every day since to do just that. I'm proud of the work I've done, and I'm also proud to see LGBTQ+ representation grow in Congress, with Democratic pro-choice champions like Reps. Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Angie Craig (MN-02).

Now, Reps. Davids, Craig and I are all running for reelection, and we're proud to have EMILYs List's endorsement again. I know we can continue making a difference for the American people -- but first, we need your support to win.

That's why I'm asking: Will you split a donation between our reelection campaigns today? Every dollar you contribute will help Rep. Davids, Rep. Craig and me continue to fight for LGBTQ+ equality, this Pride month and beyond:

Over the years, we have made incredible progress in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. But,John, we cannot mistake that progress for a total victory.

Republican-led state legislatures across the country continue to pass harmful legislation, especially targeting the transgender community and LGBTQ+ youth. And when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Justice Clarence Thomas called for Obergefell v. Hodges -- the case that established nationwide marriage equality -- to be "reconsidered."

For all of the progress we have made, there is still a LOT more to be done. I'm hoping EMILYs List supporters like you will join me and my colleagues in fighting for LGBTQ+ progress this Pride month and every day of the year. Can we count on you? Donate now to directly support Reps. Sharice Davids, Angie Craig, and me. 100% of your donation goes directly to our campaigns:

Thank you for your ongoing support. Let's recommit ourselves to work toward the day when all LGBTQ+ Americans can live in a world where they feel safe, accepted, and loved.
