If you can’t tell by now, I’m obsessed with The Final Tour of Dead & Company. If you subscribe to nugs.net as I do, you can listen to every performance. If you want to stream the video of the shows, it’s an extra charge, but can be well worth it. A Nugs subscription is in my view, essential, but we can talk about that another time.
The musicianship of Dead & Co has been at a high level during this tour, and I’ve seen and heard a bunch of evidence that the “Dead & Slow” moniker from past tours has largely vanished. The performances on this tour are inspired and passionate. The good news is that you don’t have to subscribe to check out a preview of every show—that’s available for free on YouTube. This preview (scroll to 38:28 and hit play), is the second set opener of the Saratoga show on June 17. “They Love Each Other” sounds fantastic. I can’t really understand why this is the “Final Tour,” it seems like Dead & Co is just getting hot. |
