Dear John,
You know the Constitution’s eligibility requirements to be president: A candidate must be at least 35 years old and a natural-born U.S. citizen.
And, oh yes, one other detail: They must not have engaged in insurrection after they previously took an oath to defend the Constitution.
It’s Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, and this requirement has already been applied to disqualify a January 6 insurrectionist from continuing to hold public office in New Mexico. The state’s Supreme Court upheld the ruling.
If this requirement applies to participants in the insurrection, it certainly applies to the Instigator in Chief. Check out our latest video explainer, where I put the facts together and explain exactly why Donald Trump should not be allowed on the ballot now.
Donald Trump organized and incited a violent insurrectionist attack on our nation’s Capitol, during which a working gallows stood ready to hang any legislator the mob could get hold of, be it Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Law enforcement and participants died as a result of the attack.
Together, we can make sure that Donald Trump is held accountable for inciting a deadly, white supremacist-led insurrection, and for attempting to overthrow the 2020 election results.
To be sure, the attack on the Capitol was actually the culmination of a months-long insurrection led by Donald Trump, after losing over 60 court cases seeking to undermine the credibility of the free and fair election.
Can there be any doubt that Trump will do whatever it takes to regain power again, and then attempt to hold onto it indefinitely? Democracy cannot survive if power is held by those who try to overthrow it.
Check out our latest video now and then share it on your social networks to help spread awareness and build support for booting Donald Trump off the ballot in 2024.
Thank you for watching and taking action today.
