OCA Celebrates 50th Anniversary at 2023 OCA National Convention in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. — OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates is proud to announce its 50th Anniversary National Convention that will take place from July 12 – 16, 2023 at Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.

The convention will bring together thousands of OCA members, leaders, activists, and allies from across the country to celebrate OCA’s history and achievements, as well as to discuss the most pressing issues and concerns facing the AAPI community today. The theme of this year’s convention “Organize, Connect, Act!” is a reminder for all that there should be, and must be, a process and plan of action in place when addressing the many issues and concerns within AANHPI populations.

In addition, OCA will recognize some of the many outstanding individuals that embody the theme of “Organize, Connect, Act!” for their commitment and dedication to serving the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

“It is with great gratitude and respect that I acknowledge the following partner organization and individuals,” said OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates President Linda Ng. “Their dedication and service to the AANHPI community is unparalleled. They have made significant contributions and impacts in advancing OCA’s causes and values. I am proud to call them friends and family of OCA. They are an integral part of our organization and our community. We are honored and proud to have you as part of the OCA family.”

The following individuals are named OCA’s 50th Anniversary National Gala Honorees:
* Richard Lui, Outstanding Achievement Award
* Jeremy Lin, Pioneer Award
* Tamlyn Tomita, Pioneer Award
* Mini Timmaraju, Pioneer Award
* Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Legacy Impact Award

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of OCA, the National Convention programming includes new events such as the OCA Day on the Hill on Thursday, as well as three town halls that will highlight coalition building, equitable access to healthcare and well-being, and civic engagement. Notable speakers for these town halls and over twenty breakout sessions include Erika Moritsugu, Deputy Assistant to the President and AA and NHPI Sr. Liaison, Helen Zia, Professor Janelle Wong, Curtis Chin, Professor Xiaoxing Xi, and many other government officials, community and academic leaders, and youth organizers.

The conference is free and open to the public. RSVP is encouraged to reserve your seat, and full-package registrations to access our Friday evening concert and Saturday night Awards Gala are available online atwww.ocanationalconvention.org. ([link removed])
