Just in the past few months, we've seen what Republicans have done with their power in the states:

In Tennessee, Republicans expelled two Black representatives for peacefully protesting gun violence, and in Montana, a trans lawmaker was silenced.
In North Carolina and South Carolina, Republicans jammed through some of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country.
In Florida, Ron DeSantis and Republicans have passed legislation attacking LGBTQ+ rights.

Virginia Republicans have already rolled back voting rights and proposed a budget that gives the ultra-wealthy a tax break.

If the GOP flips the state Senate and defends its control of the state House, abortion rights could be first up on the chopping block. Their far-right governor has already endorsed plans to threaten abortion doctors with jail time – it’s terrible.
