** Fort Liberty vs Fort Bragg?
------------------------------------------------------------
Happy Tuesday!

President Joe Biden recently visited North Carolina's Fort Liberty, which is recognized as the world's largest military base situated in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

This visit took place shortly after the renaming of Fort Bragg, a decision that sparked controversy. The renaming was prompted by the association of the previous name with Braxton Bragg ([link removed]) , a Confederate general, and slave owner. It's worth noting that Fort Bragg had been established and named over a century ago.

The renaming of nine military installations, including Fort Bragg, was included in the Defense Authorization Act ([link removed]) , passed by the Senate and signed into law in 2021.
Coinciding with President Biden's visit to Fort Liberty, notable candidates for the 2024 Presidential election called for the restoration of the name Fort Bragg during their speeches at the North Carolina Republican Convention:

“I also look forward to, as president, restoring the name of Fort Bragg to our great military base in Fayetteville, North Carolina,” DeSantis said. “It’s an iconic name and iconic base, and we’re not going to let political correctness run amok in North Carolina", said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“We will end the political correctness in the hallways of the Pentagon, and North Carolina will once again be home to Fort Bragg", said Former Vice President Mike Pence.

Friend, in light of the ongoing debates surrounding the renaming of various historical monuments, schools, sports teams, and in this case, military bases, I'd like to hear your perspective.

Do you believe that "cancel culture" is universally detrimental, or do you think there are circumstances when "canceling" something can be justified?
