We are denouncing the state's approval of a permit for the Goldendale Pumped Storage project which would permanently destroy sacred Tribal cultural sites. We cannot do this alone. We need you to add your name today: we can not achieve our clean energy future at the expense of tribal treaty rights. We need to believe in clean energy, and if done right, pumped storage can be a beneficial tool to increase energy generation. our electricity outputs while moving away from fossil fuels; This project though is not needed to achieve our climate goals and is not the right project to move forward. However, this project is not needed to achieve these outcomes. Indeed, this is a project that harkens back to the mistakes of the past made with the Snake River dams decades ago when the federal government violated treaty rights by impacting the loss of salmon and tribal land and limiting tribal lifeways. We cannot afford to continue sacrificing tribal communities. This is a golden opportunity to show we must act differently and how to pursue clean energy while staying true to environmental justice and treaty obligations. — Washington Conservation Action |
