BC Housing
BC Housing’s updated Building Envelope Guide for Houses has expanded:
- alternate construction approaches such as Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) and conditioned attics
- added construction systems and installation details, including the improved energy performance levels of the BC Step Code.
BC Housing acknowledges the contributions of members from the following organizations: AIBC, BOABC, CHBA BC, HAVAN, Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, ASTTBC, Concrete BC, Canadian Wood Council and RCABC.
The guide is available in digital and print.
BC Housing will be hosting a webinar on February 27 to disseminate these best practices across BC.

New Regulatory Bulletins are now available on the BC Housing website that focus on important issues for Licensed Residential Builders.
Regulatory Bulletin 27 examines Aiding and Abetting Unlicensed Builders, the consequences for doing so and how Licensed Residential Builders can avoid these pitfalls and report any suspected illegal activity.
Regulatory Bulletin 26 provides information on Licensing Requirements for General Contractors, when a general contractor needs to be licensed under the Homeowner Protection Act, and the possible consequences for building without a licence.

BC Gov
This Expert Panel is specifically looking at housing supply. They are exploring solutions to ensure there are affordable homes available for purchase or rent in British Columbia’s largest cities.The Expert Panel will be meeting with local governments, housing experts, and stakeholders in spring 2020. Organizations and private citizens have an opportunity to submit their feedback between January 22 and April 3, 2020 at 4pm (PST).

Organizations and groups can complete the online feedback form or make a 5-page written submission (see written submission guidelines) and send it to: [email protected].
We encourage you to read through the written submissions prior to submitting your comments.
