Dear John,

America has a death problem, and it precedes the pandemic. Before COVID-19, poverty was the 4th leading cause of death, yet our nation’s leaders don’t want to address it. We cannot be silent until we have policy solutions that address the needs of poor and low-wealth people!

This afternoon hundreds of poor & low-wealth state leaders, advocates, and faith leaders from 30+ states are taking action together by visiting over 400+ congressional offices and bringing the needs and demands of the 140 million poor and low-wealth people to the halls of Congress! After we meet with our representatives, we will gather at 4 PM ET in-person and online for a National Speak Out: Poverty, America's Death Sentence, Will Not Have The Last Word. Joining will be our National Co-Chairs: Bishop William J. Barber, II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis. Meet us online to demand an end to poverty, systemic racism, militarism, ecological devastation, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism.

From Alaska to Arkansas, the Carolinas to California, Mississippi to Maine, Kansas to Kentucky, the Bronx to the Border, you can take action with us as we sound the alarm on the 4th leading cause of death in one of the wealthiest nations in the world! Lift up The National Speak Out: Poverty, America’s Death Sentence, Will Not Have The Last Word, by amplifying on social media.

Forward Together, Not One Step Back!
