Friend, this is Adam Keehn, director of complex emergencies at Americares. I'm writing to you today on World Refugee Day, a day to commemorate the courage and resilience of refugees around the globe.

I have seen the strength of refugees firsthand after Russia invaded Ukraine. Our emergency response team in Poland acted immediately when these refugees came to us searching for health and security. And that support, from distributing medication for chronic diseases to providing mental health care in the face of trauma, was possible thanks to you. 

That's why I have to ask you personally this World Refugee Day: Will you make a gift of $125 to help us reach our $25,000 goal? Our deadline ends at midnight tonight, and every dollar you give makes all the difference in our ability to provide continuous, vital health care to refugees around the world.

Though I've seen so many refugees come through the border in Poland, this statistic still floors me: Over 117 MILLION people are estimated to be forcibly displaced in 2023.

That number is hard to put a face to – until you meet a refugee like 20-year-old Yaryna, who fled to Poland for safety in freezing climes after Russia's attacks.

She not only found security at an Americares-supported clinic, she then began volunteering with an Americares partner organization that provides psychological counseling to thousands of other refugees like her grappling with trauma and grief. 

But the psychological toll of war is far from over for refugees like Yaryna. Americares is committed to addressing the challenges that face refugees in Poland and across the world – and YOU are pivotal to this ongoing work. 

So please, this World Refugee Day: Will you help us reach our $25,000 goal? It's crucial we reach this goal before midnight tonight so we can continue the hard work of building resilient health systems for refugees seeking better lives in Poland and around the world.
