Philly kids enjoying nutritious Summer Meals

When summer begins, many families face the increased challenge of providing 1 or even 2 more meals every day that they didn't have to plan for during the school year. That means kids here in Philadelphia, where the child food insecurity rate is double the national average, lack the food they need.

This summer, families are feeling the impact even more, as inflation rates remain high. Making matters worse, the inflation of food prices in Philadelphia over the last year was higher than the average U.S. city.

At the Coalition Against Hunger we are working to ease the burden of providing these extra meals and the increased cost of food by ensuring kids 18 and younger can access free, healthy meals and snacks with no ID, no registration, and no proof of income required.

This summer we will continue operating our dedicated live Summer Meals Hotline (215-770-4659) to offer help finding nearby sites for kids 18 and under, and we host a searchable Summer Meals Site Map that is updated weekly.

We see the growing need for summer meal resources and how many families rely on our Summer Meals to get the food they need during the summer months. Your support makes our work with summer meals possible throughout the 5 county region.

Donate today to ensure we can continue this life-changing work and help kids get the nutritious food they need this summer!
